Here and there - April

I asked M the other day what she wanted for her "Happy Birthday"

She loudly proclaimed as she stood tall and proud on her stool...

a pacifier,

warm milk,

water,

paint,

measuring cup,

yogurt,

a cup,

mash up,

aaaand,

That's it!!!

A little girl who knows what she wants ;)

Busy, busy, busy

Last night we thought we'd do a little experiment!

We started with a tub filled with baking soda and little cups filled with colored vinegar.

 At first she was ALL kinds of seriousness and she did it for quite some time until she discovered what happened when she put the baking soda into the cup (when I wasn't looking!) and it started overflowing...she couldn't get enough of that...so she wanted to dump the cups of vinegar into the bucket, but a lot of the fizz had already fizzled! She played for awhile and found that she could draw and erase and draw with the mixture left over. Turned out to be quite fun for her :)

Today has been go go go

from making lunches for daddy, to making our crockpot dinner, craft projects and nail painting....

M went down for a much needed nap!!

 Here's my fantastic, eager helper :)

 

Don't cry over spilled cashews :)

Some of you may know that we never tell M to say "Please, Thank You or Sorry!" 

Manners in my opinion are learned through modeling the behavior, 

not being told to say it when you might not even mean it. 

So, on with my story...Today, M and I are in the kitchen cleaning up our water colors and brushes. She picks up my mason jar of cashews (kinda heavy) and knocks them over. 

Here is our conversation...

Me: Ohhh Madilynn! My cashews can stay there, I'm not done.

Madilynn: Oopppps! (with worry on her face)

Me: It's ok, sweetheart. While I pick up all the cashews, can you pick up the markers and glitter glue from the play area?

Madilynn walks out and hurries back with ALL her craft supplies at once. Which is way more than an armful and I thought she was going to drop that too!

Me: My goodness you brought them all!!

Madilynn: Mommy I spilled your cashews. I am sorry!

Me: It's ok. Madilynn, you were being so helpful and it was heavy. It can happen to anyone. Remember if something is heavy, you can ask for help.

Madilynn: Mommy, I'm sorry about that. *pause* I will try that next time. (and she gave me a hug!)

She really did feel bad, but it was so cute of her to work through her problem and to express her feelings.

Arteest!

We were in the backyard playing today.

 M turns to me and says

"Mommy, you are a GREAT Artist!"

"Thank you! I know you are a great artist too!"

Madilynn touches her heart and shyly signs "Thank you!"

We grabbed some markers and here is what she drew on the windows.

I drew the circle on this one and she added...

the eyes, nose, mouth and the squiggly lines inside are the fur (I was totally informed!)

Then came the ears, whiskers and paws (the green circles.)

This is a tree! The dot/lines are the apples...they didn't quite make it in the tree :) 

 I didn't have a clue what this was until she told me it was a bib with a design in the middle.

Ahhhhh, my lil arteeeeest!

Juicing

Ohh how I think Madilynn NEEDS a nap...

oh wait, that's me!!!

Madilynn has always been the 3 hour napper and

*POOF* 

naps are a thing of the past!

So, here I thought I was gonna give up my chai's this week...

I needed to conjure up a great idea to keep Lil M busy 

and me away from the chai! 

Viola, Juicing :) 

Madilynn decided to eat almond butter out of the jar, no less...

while I cut the veggies...then she had a lot of fun pushing the veggies thru the juicer!

Spinach, Cucumber, Celery, and Carrots = Yummy!

As we were leaving Whole Foods today, the florist

came over and gave Madilynn this flower 

because she was cute and it matched her shopping cart!!

 

Puddle Jumpin!

 

She could not get enough...

She hopped, jumped, sloshed, side to side...

she even drank the water! 

M loves giving hugs, kisses and LICKS, haahaha

Beware ;P

We headed back into the house to warm up and find something to do.

I didn't want to clean paint brushes,

but we wanted to paint.

So I declared...Painting with anything BUT!

Cotton balls, cups, feathers, sponges, fruit, plastic silverware,

whatever we could think of that was in the kitchen.

* the cotton ball HAD to stay...it was a "part of the art" Madilynn said after I took the other cotton ball off, ooops!
